The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC) makes information available about our programs, policies and services to help the public understand what we do. We also regularly publish information on our decisions, finances and corporate structure to show how the Department works.
On 18 December 2024, the Honourable Jeremy Rockliff MP Premier of Tasmania appointed Professor Tim McCormack and Adjunct Associate Professor Rick Snell to conduct an independent review into Tasmania’s Right to Information system and to submit a final report by 30 June 2025.
Independent Review of Right to Information Framework
The Right to Information Uplift Project aims to improve the way people get information held by the Tasmanian Government.
Right to Information Uplift Project
The Right to Information Act 2009 provides for greater access to information held by government bodies by providing for Right to Information applications (Right to Information assessed disclosures) and by encouraging the voluntary regular disclosure of information (routine disclosures).
There is a large amount of Government information publicly available online.
Before you lodge an RTI request, you should check whether the information is already available somewhere else.
We pro-actively provide a wide range of information on our website. As a first step, you may find the information you need on our website. If you can’t find it on the web, contact us and we might be able to provide it to you without the need to lodge an RTI request.
